Svend KarlsenSvend Karlson has always aspired to be the best at his sports. Svend has an impressive history with strength sports, trying his hand at Powerlifting, Bodybuilding and more recently Strongman. Svend Karlson has won many strongman competitions, his best includes the 2001 World's Strongest Man.
Svend Karlsen's Bio:Born in Norway on October 6, 1967, Svend Karlsen wanted to be a number 1 powerlifter from a very young age. He started lifting weights at the age of just 14 and has never looked back. Svend Karlsen happily admits that he (among many others) wanted to be just like Arnie! So, after working out since the age of 14, Svend started competing in Powerlifting competitions in 1986. Svend broke numerous records in his powerlifting days including 30 Norwegian records, 3 European records and 1 world record. Svend showed his competitors that he was seriously strong! Then came Svend Karlsen's Bodybuilding career. In 1990, Svend started competing in heavyweight competitions with instant results! Svend won the Norwegian championships in that year and continued to take out many other titles. In 1993 Svend came second in the World Games, which then earned him the right to compete as an IFBB Pro. After competing in a few more bodybuilding comps, Svend retired from bodybuilding with an injury. In 1996, Svend Karlsen tried out Strongman competitions. In his first year he almost found himself in the finals of competitions, so being the go getter he is, Svend Karlsen decided to train up hard and really give it a go! After many hours of training and numerous competitions, Svend Karlsen achieved his ultimate goal... being the world's strongest man! He took out the 2001 World's Strongest man competition, which is the highlight of his career, what an achievement!
